2007 Release
This is a very beautiful movie. True, it doesn't have sophisticated dialogs or smart-ass plot, but it is very wholesome and entertaining in its own right. There are two main male characters: one is a sound engineer for a recording studio and another is a psychiatrist, who is getting way too much involved in the role playing with his patients. Also, of course, there is a girl who is shown suffering from the lack of any attention from the choice of her heart and resorting to drinking all night long in a KTV singing some sad songs about love. What we see are three simple characters with very simple wishes and desires, but this does not diminish the beauty of the movie. Quite often filmed on location and remaining true to the taiwanese canons, the movie goes on exploring the emotional depth (or rather shallowness) of its main characters. Even a raunchy gay sex scene is done quite tastefully and beautifully. The questions and themes that this movie tries to answer aren't new, and sometimes we are puzzled why grown up people behave like middle school children, only to find that the basic emotions and aspirations are indeed what consumes these characters and what occupies the major part of the movie. Yes, there is a suicide attempt, be forewarned, but there is nothing profound behind it, just pure hormonal imbalance.
