Story line:
Abe Hiroshi is the lead, and he plays a father who works at an advertising company as a commercial director. His wife, played by Shinohara Ryouko, is a homemaker who takes care of their daughter. They have just moved into an expensive new house in a nice neighborhood, next-door to a couple played by Miyasako Hiroyuki and Nakashima Tomoko. Miyasako's character is a stay-at-home father, and his wife is a career woman. Abe's character is disgusted when he learns that he lives next-door to a stay-at-home father. He says, "Doesn't he have any pride as a man?"

Soon, however, Shinohara's character is offered a promising employment opportunity through a friend, which she immediately refuses because she needs to stay home and take care of her daughter. At the same time her husband is informed that he is being transferred to a different advertising company. Before he even gets out the door of his old company, he learns that his new company has just gone under, and it is too late to go back to his old job. He finds himself unemployed, and unable to find a new job where he can expect to work soon and make a comparable salary in order to pay for their new house.

When it becomes apparent that Abe's character is unable to support the family and their new house, his wife tells him about the promising job offer that she received through a friend. Having little other choice, he agrees to look after their daughter and take care of the house while his wife goes to work, but he stresses that this arrangement is only temporary.
